Publishing a report to Power BI Service and ISOPlanner dashboards

Introduction

After creating a report in Power BI Desktop, you may want to share it with your colleagues. To do this, you need to publish the report to a central location: Power BI Service. This solution lets you share and automatically refresh your reports in your organization (and more). Reports can also be shown on ISOPlanner dashboards in a few clicks.

Publish a report

  1. In Power BI Desktop, make sure that you are logged in with your Microsoft work account.
  2. After logging in, open the Power BI Service link and log in into Power BI Service.

  1. Go back to Power BI Desktop and open the report that you want to publish.
  2. Click Publish.

  1. Select your Workspace in Power BI Service and click Select.

  1. During publishing, you may be asked if you want to overwrite an existing report. After publishing, the reports is uploaded to your Workspace in Power BI Service.

Create an ISOPlanner dashboard

  1. Go to Power BI Service, open your workspace and click on the name of the new report you just published.
  2. In the toolbar select File -> Embed report -> Website or portal and copy the link.

  1. Go to ISOPlanner, select Start in the main menu and select the type of dashboard you want to create (for yourself, a team or the whole organization)

  1. Now click the arrow-down menu button on the current dashboard and select Insert new dashboard.
  2. Give the dashboard a name and enable the Power BI report toggle. When this toggle is disabled, Power BI integration is not enabled yet. Please follow these steps:
    1. As a Manager or Admin, go the the ISOPlanner integration settings: Administration / Settings / Integration
    2. Enable the Power BI  toggle and grant access rights to read reports and update user settings. If you are not authorized, consult with your IT department.
  3. Paste the report link that you copied in Report link field and click Save.
  4. The dashboard will now load with your report.
    1. It is possible that you need to login once.
    2. When you do not have access rights for the report, you can ask for it so that the report owner can share it with you. In this case, the report owner gets an email with an approve/deny option.
